Undergraduate students: Write an essay of 3-5 pages on a particular digital game that you're familiar with or currently exploring. Analyze this game from the point of view of the MDA framework (see lecture). Identify the mechanics, dynamics, and aesthetics of the game. Add a section where you talk about your experience with it and why you would recommend it to other people or not.
Record a 5-10 minutes presentation of the paper and upload it to OneDrive or Google drive, then share the link in the dedicated discussion topic on Canvas.
Graduate students: Write a 4-7 pages essay paper on a topic related to games. You can explore one aspect of games or game playing of your choice as seen in a variety of games, such as HUDs, the use of VR equipment or other such devices, education or therapy games, storyline influence on games, etc. You can also examine the use of games for specific purposes, such as education, health care, training, collective problem-solving.
Prepare a 10 minutes presentation on Graduate students in the hybrid section will be presenting in class. The ones in the asynchronous section should record their presentation, upload it to a shareable drive such as OneDrive or Google Drive, and share the link in the dedicated discussion topic on Canvas.
