DINAA (Digital Index of North American Archaeology) is a multi-institutional project aimed at creating interoperability between archaeological databases. As a student researcher and data analyst working for one of the main PI's of the project, Dr. Josh Wells, my job so far has been to assist in the cataloging of Smithsonian Trinomial site numbers (STs) appearing in issues of American Antiquity, note vital attributes of the STs, and to calculate summary statistics of the STs. Additionally, I and another student have worked on visualizing some of these statistics, mainly in the form of maps, some of which are shown below. The end goal of these efforts will be to design an algorithm that can link site numbers logged in DINAA to articles stored in JSTOR.
